Recent anime Remakes: Yay or Nay?

It seems like in the last few years we have seen a resurgence on grabbing old school manga or anime and creating a new version for today's audiences. Have you been aware of it?

I enjoyed watching the first season of Ranma on Netflix. This being an adaptation of the manga and not on the older anime. It promises to be faithful to the original source so there will be differences between the two versions. From the same mangaka we also have a newer version of Urusai Yatsura.

I also saw that Trigun also got an updated look. The old version was kind of in my bucket list because one of my friends used to be very into that series back in the day. Fruits basket is another one. Heck even Ruroni Kenshin (or Samurai X) is getting or has another anime coming out, just to mention a few examples.

There have also been reimagining of older shows. I am talking like the '70s and earlier. Their look being updated.

Have you watched any of the remakes?

Are you familiar with the originals?

Do you reckon is a good or a bad thing they are re-adapting old school anime?

It's a mixed bag. Here are some good/great ones. (Actual full remakes not just a new version that cut fillers or adapted a new story like fmab)

Fruits basket (I've heard)
Evangelion rebuild
Dororo
Devilman crybaby

But these ones exist
Berserk
Rurouno kenshin

Which makes me not want more of em. Also the new digital tools change the graniny look of old anime and I actually hate it.

Nay. There are already way to many sequels as it is, we don't need shows people have already seen before that mostly still hold up being made. I have zero interest whatsoever in any remake. I want to watch something new and exciting. Sequels and remakes are boring.
