Promotion of a blog

Answering the question, I have no idea From my experience blog gets more readers when you write about things a lot of people care about, especially if you are regular and at least try to be decent with your content. Blogs that are just click baits, with nothing interesting to read, they don't get people; same with blogs that write about very specific topics where there are very few potential readers.

You can write whatever you want =) Blog is about you, the person who wishes to express his/her opinions and thoughts. There is no reason to force yourself into writing something you don't want to. It's not a job, it's something you do for the fun of it =)

On the other hand, I know some people like the idea of being popular, and so they would put effort into making a their blogs appealing. Still, basically everyone says that you should only write about things you are genuinely interested in, otherwise it won't work.

With blogs you just need to keep the updates fresh, do them on current things, or do them on something people care about. It's a bit like running a forum really, it'll be slow to start off but when you get the right balance of advertising and content it'll take off.
