Indeed it's good to celebrate festivals.
We usually have three days holidays for celebration here.

Well, it depends on the school.
If it's a catholic School, they would give now holidays for Christmas.
Sankranthi, Dussehra are the major celebrations here

Just one day for it.
It's a celebration liked by many because of fireworks but it's not that popular as the other festivals that I have mentioned.. Over here anyway

Wow I can't believe it..my research said it was a five day festival in india though..probably another part of India then

Yes. It differs a lot.
There are some parts which celebrate some festival a lot more than other states :D
