Finally the anime deviated from the novel and if you haven't read the novel for this, then take note of spoilers ahead. Jin ling prays to that deity to bring the monster of the Dafan mountain, in front of him and only then, the deity would respond. There are no more soul consumption village issues being portrayed in this anime.
