yes 100% while it's not proven by science it's still something i believe in, You can take some life instances for example:

Did something bad (Similar to what you did) happen to you?

Yep I agree. I have seen it at work though many times. Some call it circumstance but it's just to obvious

many things in that theory relates to past lives. if they can't explain something, then they would blame the person might have done something bad in their other lives. i don't believe this. it's just bad luck.
