Johan Liebert and Friend, both written by Urasawa Naoki. One is main antagonists for Monster and one for 20th Century Boys

Both are excellent character with unique characteristic but they are total opposite to each other. Johan is the type of genius evil with overwhelming charisma and Friend is a phony with brilliant acting and trickery. Johan is an introvert who actually alone and Friend is attention seeker who like to be on top of the chart.

From motivation perspective Johan is seeking for his 'root' and intended to perish along with everything, meanwhile Friend want world domination and become the 'President of the world'. Just wow.. they are like heaven and earth, totally different, this is proof that Naoki Urasawa is brilliant on writing various characters.

I looking forward to read another manga of him, Pluto and Happy, ah yes.. Happy is a sport manga, it's about tennis, i'm curious how is it a sport manga with a touch from Naoki Urasawa haha..
 
Interesting comparison.
I haven't watched or read anything about friend character. I did watch monster and it's good and creepy at the same time :D

Ah.. you know, Monster and 20th Century Boys often compared by fans, which one the better series by Baoki Urasawa, that's very hard to answer..

I will take a look at this other series. I just hope it has an anime adaptation.

As far as i know it doesn't have anime adaptation, but live adaptation

this is making me want to read about the friend. if he is not a monster like yohan, he must be very likable

Well.. kinda. I don't have negative feelings toward him
 
President of the world sounds fun man.
It's like looking at yoga as a very young dreamer who don't know much about this world

Even so, it explains how high his goal is man.
You are right and he is very different from yohan liebert we know. If they meet in crossing of the manga, I am not so sure who could win man

Yes, talk about evil meter.. Friend still below Yohan, he's the type of con artist but the brilliant one

That's cool man.
I can't imagine anyone who can make others kill just by talking to them, like Yohan.
