Internal server error 500

Thanks for clearing up the issue is the javascript and not PHP.

Mind sharing more details about security issues and problems.

I will be making a test forum so you could see what the IPB 3.4.x would be like.
An IPB board would mean ongoing expenses that are higher than even a Xenforo, as far as I understand.
Not sure AMF staff would be able to afford that.

I don't think it's a good idea. IPB is not at all a free forum software.
Xenforo would be better but we don't want to upgrade to any premium software as of yet.

Don't sweat it. I am pretty much in basic for PHP too.
I love programming and I am okay with C and java languages but am yet to get familiar with PHP (I want to and I definitely should), so in the end I guess I am just as clueless. XD

I see. Since you were creating a global variable that will connect to the DB I think the error could be due incorrect permissions. I am not sure where or how to ensure that new global variable has permission to do what is supposed to do but that could be a reason for a 500 error.

If you touched .htaccess, then it could be something in there.
That's not it. I have checked the file permissions and such but that's not that issue. I know C,C++,C#(a bit), java and python ^^

I really should learn php though (_ _)

Clara Read what Activate posted please, He forgot to tag you.
I did. I don't think we can afford something like that. I am already spending like 15,000 bucks(INR) and domain renewal costs and such :(

Umm....I don't think that's an option for us :(

The one option would be using nulled which of course has it's drawbacks, but is still essentially better than MyBB.

Since the forum software is based on an open source base anyone with proper knowledge can 'hack

Nulled is illegal. I am not sure the staff would be on board with that.
There is also the issue that nulled software usually can't have the latest security patches or hotfixes, so I think we would still have potential security issues with it and the added risk of being caught and have the whole thing shut down at a minute's notice.

On countless occasions whilst i was using insecure forum software the admin accounts would be hacked, even the system i was using was SHA-1 encrypted and salted aka unreadable encryption.
Wow. I thought it was a double edged sword, my understanding was that being open source also helped people that know how to hack to actively help to counter and robust the security so it is good to know that is not as secure as many paint it out to be.

While the idea of having a premium software is enticing, I think AMF should do it the right way.

Yes while nulled software of course is illegal, if you go with the right web hosting provider such as blazingfast.io (i am not sponsored or advertising), you would not have problems.

Most nulled software (atleast latest ipb 4.1.x) has security patches which are applied with every new version.

If you were to be caught the web host provider would do nothing, besides email you about it or potentially (rarely) take down your website, it all depends on your provider.

I am sorry but we don't want nulled scripts and we don't want anything illegal either. Sorry.

That's understandable. Thanks for the reply. Either way, whatever you decide on doing my suggestion would be switching from MyBB to something more stable asap.

Well, I am not so sure what to say to that :(
What do you think of phpbb?

Well, I have googled some stuff and looks like it's not easy to just convert the entire forum to another script. So, we will have to deal with this for sometime and I am gonna accept serious donations and will try to upgrade it to xenforo sometime soon and thank you for that activate :)

Ooops. it wouldn't give that error. It just doesn't work.
Looks like I didn't know what I was talking about ._.
Baka me.
