Watching his father commit suicide, watching his friend die, being forced to kill his friend, watch his mentor die(and being responsible for it), yep that's more emotionally traumatic than most people in Naruto.
And don't make death a boxing contest for God's sake.

Really? I don't know whom he killed...I know that it's hard but still...I refuse to acknowledge them on the grounds of not being traumatic enough

I've always liked his rendition of All Might. Scenes involving All Might trend in reddit twice, once for the original, and again, probably the next day because of his version. I like both versions equally.

I know how horrible it is..... It's just that... Damn I admit it. I don't think he is better than Itachi and I really don't like him getting special attention.

He was the first cool character to appear in the series and his fight with Zabuza was the one of the reasons the series got popular in the first place so of course people are gonna like him. After all, he was always No. 1 in the official Jump Naruto popularity polls.

How can someone be a side character if he's in the series from episode 3 of Naruto to episode 500 of Shippuuden and has played a major role in almost every single arc.

Because he is not Naruto. Except for the very main protagonist,I consider the other characters as side characters.
