If Korean Cartoons are considered Anime then should some American cartoons be considered anime?

what's your take on this?
i think they should not lol but what about you all?

I don't think we should consider them
Not many consider Korean, Chinese webtoons, as usual manga, Angel

Anime just means animation from Japan.

Tbh you see this all the time when it comes to anything that’s a marketing label that means one specific thing. People either try making it more specific than it actually is, or more broad than it actually is. What causes the confusion is when certain genres or styles are primarily associated with those labels, but people don’t realize that those are not exclusive to those labels.

Because anime has a distinct art style, people don’t realize the term is based on country of origin, and associate it with the art style. So you see situations where cartoons with the art style are being called anime, and anime without the art style as not anime. As opposed to say an American vs Canadian cartoon, where relatively nobody will debate it’s entirely on country of origin.

oh wow cool grungie
and by that, even if a japanese author makes something and if it doesn't follow the art work, it can't be an anime!

People legit say that.

I mostly agree with Grungie. 'Anime' from other countries have specific terms referring to them. However, one has to consider whether these terms are actually used. Due to the relative obscurity of Eastern animation and the fact that a lot of it outside of Japan got marketed as anime (or in the case of comics, manga) as well, a lot of these terms are simply not that well known. The evolution of language also depends on whether the terms gain traction, not just whether they're created. If they don't, then... eventually, all Eastern animation and comics *will* become known as anime and manga.

I'll be ok if they stretch the definition to include other east Asian countries but not american or any other countries' cartoons that's for sure.

Honestly idk but after reading what grungie said I agree with her/him.
If it's classed as anime due to specific specifications then it should be kept that way.
