If a Japanese studio outsources work to a western studio is it still an anime?

I agree with demographics
But from what I have gathered Seinen is for adults and not for young adults. I would want to watch something that wouldn't hold back on gore and other things. Seinen would be the answer for it. We have laughed at cartoons before when they replaced Sanji's cigarette with a lollipop. So forgive me for thinking a little low of it.

I will try to watch some more mature cartoons and then change my view. This is all just my opinion. I am not saying it as a fact. Just sharing my experience here.

Seinen legit means young adult male, which is why I said it. It’s not a term made up for the anime/manga industry, it’s just a word in Japan. Josei is the female equivalent, and otona is adult.

It is kind of ironic that we’re in the age of the internet, and the fact that the anime community thrives on the internet, it’s a community that thrives off of miscommunication and hearsay over things with explicit definitions. Or maybe I’m spoiled by communities that have more knowledgeable people, and urban legends are relegated to non-quantifiable things.

There are adult western cartoons, and in America we have the television block Adult Swim that catered to that demographic. Back when people watched TV, a lot of American anime fans were exposed to anime through Adult Swim, but the ironic thing is when those anime fans say cartoons are for kids forget they were watching Adult Swim. That’s why I say a lot of those people are feigning ignorance on it.

The whole Sanji lollipop incident was a flub by the dubbing company 4kids, and I shouldn’t have to explain who their target market is. Their shows aired on the Saturday morning block, which historically was always for kids. They fucked up, because they knew nothing about One Piece when they were handed it.

At least I didn't feign ignorance.
I should probably first try to get more information before even forming my opinions. It's a good way to get more knowledge as well.

Knowledge is always useful, and nobody worth your time expects you to have watched all of that, just know the existence of things. It also prevents embarrassment from making sweeping generalizations that deny the existence of something, despite famous examples lying out in plain view.

I agree with everything you have said.
But so far you haven't given me a single name of the western cartoon that is worth my time and can be watched by other adults too. I am sorry but I have googled through couple of pages and I don't consider Jonny bravo as an adult cartoon or powerpuff girl toos. I am just trying to understand where I could get this information.

These were the first two links in Google when I typed “adult oriented cartoons”, so idk what you’re looking up

I typed cartoons for adults and there were only a few links from buzfeed website on the first page for me.
Thanks.
