I was disappointed with Akira...

I watched it, I didn't like it. I just couldn't find myself getting into it and struggled to concentrate on it.

Did I miss something? Why is it considered one of the best anime movies of all time?

It's considered the best because the animation is pretty good lol read the manga and you'll understand how good Akira is, it's totally different from the movie

Well It is really old and I think it was revolutionary when it came out. It's been too long since I watched it and I don't even remember what it was about but I too didn't find it that interesting.

I'm glad it's not just me. I know it has somewhat a "cult" following so people get upset when you say you didn't like it

It was super influential in sci-fi and more specifically cyberpunk. Though since it came out a little over 30 years ago, a lot of aspects of it were emulated over the decades, so what was considered groundbreaking and new at the time isn’t impressive for today. You see that a lot with many things that were “the first”.

Tbh I think the movie was more about the art and visual style, because outside of a few shoutouts, the story didn’t really leave a legacy.

Good then, hit classic now. I wasn't getting into it either, but I'm sure back in the day it would have wowed me, much like how Star Wars series became popular.

I never really cared for Akira. It's supposed to be really good and was cutting edg for animation for it's time. Maybe somebody will redo it and keep it closer to the manga.

I've only watched it the once myself about 10 years ago now. I did enjoy it but I deffo didn't seem to like it as much as other people do. I don't even remember what I might have thought held it back.

i haven't wacthed it but may be it's because of the animation
i think i watched it a long time ago but i don't remember anything lol. how is the story?
