I don't hate him, I find him to be whiny.....

Nel said:I thought he is type who never gives up foolishly. What makes you say that naruto is whiny?
MadaraUchiha said:Well, because he whines a lot? I don't know, it's just that Naruto is the one character that doesn't really have any charisma.... Luffy, Gon, Ichigo, et al have charisma, or are at least borderline like-able, but, this guy, guh.....
Though if you think about it, Naruto has this amazing leadership power, which is not something you see a lot of. He is able to sway people's opinions easily, convert enemies into followers, he has this simple but effective message about friendship and so on, that people buy. Ichigo can't do a talk-no-justu, neither can Gon. Back when I was reading the manga all those feats of Naruto converting bad guys into good ones seemed to be a bad writing, but after I looked back on it I sort of felt the whole thing makes sense. Naruto isn't just stupidly overpowered, he is also supposed to have amazing influence over other people, to be able to lead them. It is kinda interesting, especially since there is no direct mention of it in the text.MadaraUchiha said:Well, because he whines a lot? Just by mere words he can take out all the hatred? Seems surreal to meSindar said:Though if you think about it, Naruto has this amazing leadership power, which is not something you see a lot of. Right =) But the story is broken in so many other ways too, it doesn't even bother me.Nel said:Just by mere words he can take out all the hatred? Seems surreal to me

Sindar said:Yep, that is my point =) Or take Obito, the guy was a grown up dude who had enough courage and determination to start a war against everyone, yet Naruto converted him into a follower in like a day. That power is something unique to Naruto, it makes him stand out from the mass of shonen protagonists.
Believe me, one of the many aspects I like about Naruto is the effort Kishi takes to humanize its villains and make them relate to us, be it Haku or Nagato or Obito etc.... But, sometimes it goes too far..... While many criticise the ending of Pein Invasion arc, in which Naruto uses talk-no-jutsu, I actually liked it.... But, when it tried too hard to justify Madara's cause, it kind of looked ridiculous for me, I mean, sometimes you can have a perfectly evil guy, like Orochimaru.... And, maybe it's just me, but during the later part of the war, everyone except team 7 became useless, and I couldn't really connect with the series when 4 people are defeating the bad guy by themselves..... If you look at say, One Piece, each and everyone contributes something, whereas in this, it's just Naruto and Sasuke, every single time.....Sindar said:Though if you think about it, Naruto has this amazing leadership power, which is not something you see a lot of. Regarding Naruto, well, maybe it's just me, I just don't like him..... I mean, feelings can't be rationalised..... I guess it was like that from the start, or somewhere in the middle.......
I see =) I guess I was sold on how cool Pain cool during his fight against Jiraiya, so I would have preferred him to stay cool, unwavering in his insane ideas. Maybe if his ideas were lass insane it would have been good too ^^/MadaraUchiha said:I liked that Pein Naruto discussion thing maybe because that was something new to me, something I've never seen, at least in Naruto.....
So, what's your opinion on Naruto? Hate, like, don't care?

I don't know. I didn't like him much when I was watching the show, though certainly there were moments when I was rooting for him. After finishing the anime I started to appreciate him a bit more, cause he stands out from the other shonen protagonists I've seen =)

Hey Sebastian! Haven't seen you in a while =)
MadaraUchiha said:Yes, I thought that scene was done pretty well too, when Sai came to rescue, I wanted him to retaliate for some reason.....
The way Pein is fully introduced is truly epic..... The entire rainy atmosphere, the sombre tone and everything, it was great, and of course Girei was just perfect.... The one thing that I almost always like about Naruto Shippuden is the OST, there are many great ones...... Girei, Itachi's theme, 2-3 of Sasuke themes, many battle themes, many happy/sad themes.....
