How do you pick new and ongoing anime?

Sometimes just reading plot, sometimes just hearing the name is enough. Other times people recommending it here and other reviews.

trailer and artwork. but 99% artwork only.
But also "age" currently I like to watch animes with stories which are rated 16+,18+

Reviews, genre, 'anime like...' lists, seeing what the new season has to offer. Eventually I find enough to watch. ^_^

MAL's recommendation list is good.
I usually find anime that way too. No wonder everyone watch Code Geass after watching Death note.

Naruto is only fun for the first season....
Later on the story gets boring and just... no.
Borito isn't anything better.

one piece...have tried the manga until vol.20... but it was so boring

Interesting.
I thought Naruto's shinobi fighting arc is very boring.

I pick anime new as in one that I haven't seen yet, but I don't care too much if it is about this year or not.

There are a few anime YouTubers I watch and sometimes their insight pokes my interest toward certain series.
Many times I go by what my contacts are watching and if someone I trust is familiar with my tastes say I 'need' to give a go to X series, I will add it to my list.

Some other times it just happens. Browsing around I read a nice synopsis, something catches my eye from the visual design and I find the cover seems to hint at a good story or interesting cast.

By reading reviews, sometimes by recommendation. This is my usual method to start a series
that's cool
usually reviews are the best and unlike the product reviews, anime and manga reviews are genuine.

Not really, some reviewers only talk about the good things, not many reviewers talk black and white, some choose not comments if they don't like the series

Reviews are always the best man.
I recommend them but recommendations are the best.

But in the end i also read the reviews about things recommended to me haha.. unless the one who recommend me give me enough infos about the series
