How do female characters depicted in shoujo differ from female characters in Shonen?

To be honest, I believe the female characters in Shojo can be a little high spirited and a little self centered.
Do you agree with this?
If not, why is that?

There’s a lot of self centered girls in Shonen...

I do agree with that.
In my opinion, Shojo got even more self centered girls. Probably because of the main story and all

You can look at Josei if you want well-written female characters.

do they have better female characters?
or an overall well developed characters of both genders? i don't know much about that genre

Josei isn’t a genre, it’s just manga targeted at adult women So basically the female equivalent of seinen, which is manga for adult men.

Most schoolgirl comedies are seinen, but nobody watches those for well developed characters. You’re there for goofy mundane stuff.

like that girl you were annoyed with who treats her brother like crap
i think i understand the plot and target audience minds

I’m trying to remember the show I’m talking about. Sister treating her brother like crap isn’t descriptive enough, since that’s half of the little sister trope.

i think it's called umaru chan
do we have a lot of such sisters? i don't think there are many but i am no expert

Oh yeah, I forgot I talked about her on here. Most little sister characters are either overly doting, or overly tsundere with not a lot of middle ground.

Incestual themes are also starting to get popular...

I blame To Love Ru and Oreimo.

i think so too
and i used to think so bad of it but now i wouldn't even blink. some twins like brother and sister is my first anime for this

I know that anime.
Isn't it very the siblings don't start out that way? I think it has a character names Yoru .

Because shojo intended for girl and shonen for guy, and also.. usually shojo's realm is within romance genre. Of course those affected how the characters in the series depicted

lol that i agree
but shojo genre can be exaggerated when it's trying to portray the female characters.
