High school theme in anime

Even a lot of American shows aimed at a younger audience, or at least sitcoms, take place in high school. Teenagers are the largest demographic to target, so that makes an easier to put them in that age. They tend to start having jobs, or more allowance, than a children, so you appeal to the audience with the most buying power.

Hell, even a lot of Seinen stuff still star high school students.

that i agree
they don't know how to save up money for the future as they are still so young. that would make them spend more money on anime and manga.
