Gaming peripherals over normal ones?

How important to you are the gaming peripherals? Would you use normal ones?

For me it's good to use a keyboard, mouse and a headset made for gaming. Not the best and most expensive ones but $30-50 each.
 
I'm perfectly fine with the default controller that comes with my game console. Keyboard and mouse are nice but I prefer a classic controller feel.
 
I went full out the first time buying the best of everything but after a few years some of the stuff broke and i just went for some cheaper stuff. I don't play games as much anymore and if I do its nothing serious although I do like to keep a good keyboard still.
