Excel Saga

So, I just got done watching all of Excel Saga. It was definetly... a strange anime. After I read the entry on Wikipedia, I know why I like this anime so much. It's "down"? to the same level of comedy as movies like Airplane! and National Lampoons Vacation-- movies that I grew up with.

So my question is, as I doubt that there will be a sequel to this anime, are there any other anime that are like Excel Saga, just slapstick stupid, over the top funny, or does Excel Saga stand alone?

I will admit that it is ...stupid. Seems to be lots of filler stuff, but, there is actually a plot buried in there, one just has to be patient. And some of the comedy, maybe not be gold, but it is there. But then again, I love moves like Airplane! and Spaceballs. Excel Saga definitely has the same feel. Also, I just learned that the anime only showed the first five stories within the manga, and the character Excel in the manga is... better?

I can handle dumb and pointless stuff, but I recall this just being too far out there and I think the english dub had bad VAs.

When I originally watched Excel Saga back in like 2007, I was super pissed off that they replaced the VA for Excel. It just didn't feel like the same character to me at the time. However, I must give Larissa Wolcott due credit. She sounded very much like the characterization that Jessica Calvello personified in Excel originally. Once I looked beyond the voice acting, I found that In enjoyed the antics and utter stupidity of the series, in fact, I'm actually craving more right now, but that could just be because I'm living during a chaotic time under chaotic leadership causing chaotic chaos, and I need something over the top to ground myself. Who knows.

The main point of Excel Saga is that it is a parody. Actually multiple parodies. Like every episode of the first 15 or so seem to be a parody of different genres. Then after about episode 15 in to 20 things begin to get a little soggy? (for lack of a better word--I need coffee.). Beyond 20, the series takes a much more sinister turn and I was like what the actual F??? I'd love to see more of the science fiction piece of the realm of Excel Saga.
