English or American Accents

So I would like to know what accent you prefer while watching anime/cartoons.

I know some people may prefer the original language but I'm just curious. being from England I think my preference lies with American accents for the majority of protagonist and English for the Antagonist. What do you guys prefer?

I like it when the actor sounds natural to me (and since English is not my native language it is not that hard of a task =) ). I like to hear British accent, different American accents, even made up foreign accents. Used to like voice acting in Hellsing OVA a lot, dunno if I would change my mind if I see it again.

The ability to even recognize a foreign accent is a big achievement I think.  I mean, if I heard two different Spanish accents (I took beginning Spanish.), I doubt if I'd spot them.  Anyway, for a native speaker and for an advanced student, the accents are a big thing. It's almost like hearing two separate languages.

i like english american accents better as they are easy to understand. i see other accents movies too but they are funny to hear. i watched subbed

It's hillarious some people keep saying that "British have a cute accent, and Americans have no accent".
It's basically like saying "a flute sounds beautiful, a trumpet doesn't make any sound".

As for this topic, it's very uncommon for me to hear English dubs because I don't bother too much with those any way.
But when Dragon Ball Z and GT initially aired on TV, they were dubbed in English (quite different from those found on YouTube?) with Dutch subtitles.

But nowadays I watch what I watch with Japanese dubs and no subtitles.
There are subtitles sometimes when watching a non-anime on Japanese TV, though the subtitles are also in Japanese.

British do have some defined accents, but American accents are all over the board as you have northern, Midwest and southern sounding accents, New York accents, Texan accents. It's pretty wide range.

Most american accents just don't sound like an accent through speakers and just sound like normal english so I prefer that. British accents sound weird.

The common American accent is very plain and boring.  However, though, it's preferred for news, but I bet now it's becoming less so.  I mean, people like a local flavor on TV etc..

But they are original speakers and of you listen to them at least for an hour, you will start to feel like, everyone imitate them

if you have listened to good british accents, you wouldn't say this. anime doesn't have this but some tv series for some people with that accent

It's not like I want to hear the other accents much for anime.
