Claraviolet said:Naruto spot. I am okay I suppose.
Busy huh? Are you still busy?
Claraviolet said:I see. That sounds amazing. Does it charge anything? Maintaining those servers can be a pain.
Yeah forums are dying but established forums don't have to worry about that
TechnicalSuwako said:Depends on the type of server.
If you take a dedicated server, it'll cost a lot (and having a dedi just for a Mastodon instance is rather overkill).
If you take a VPS, it could be quite affordable depending on the company you put it in.
You can put it on a server at your own home, but that'll cost electricity. And your internet connection could be unstable if your ISP sucks.
I only don't think it'll be possible on a shared hosting, since setting it up requires you to use a good number of command line tools.
Claraviolet said:I am using command line stuff as well. Normally to check the files, permissions and such. We don't who shell script but I know the basics of that as well
TechnicalSuwako said:I made a little typo: it'll ? it won't.
Claraviolet said:Oh ^^
It's fine....you will find plenty of typos in my posts ...so its not a big deal
TechnicalSuwako said:Unless a typo changes the meaning of your post entirely, which was the case here.
Claraviolet said:Wait...a sec...dedicated server is way more expensive than a VPS or shared.
So...now I am confused. You don't have to spend a lot if you opt for a dedicated server?
That doesn't make any sense to me.
TechnicalSuwako said:Dedicated servers are way more expensive, and that's what I already said and meant.
What I meant is that "it'll" and "it won't" are the exact opposites of each other (I marked the corrected word as bold in the original post for a reason).
Claraviolet said:I didn't know the. I always thought you were from ns. Mikal? Seriously? I haven't heard that name in a long time now.
Oh... Are you working full time or something?
Claraviolet said:I see. Well as long as can understand things, it's fine . Guess my Hindi is horrible. I was about to say that i always thought you came from ns
Claraviolet said:Wow.. that's perfect. I can understand Hindi.. So yeah that sentence is good.
What about meh sooch raha ta thum ns se aaya. How about it?
