Does anyone else think the history they teach you in schools just one big farce?

Over the years I've been learning about the history of the world and one thing I've always noticed is how many country's curriculum conveniently leaves out the portion where their own country does something horrible or making themselves look like the good guys. There are a few examples I've seen like the tiananmen square incident, nanking massare, and pretty much how the British rule came to be and how it ended in india and plenty more I haven't seen. Nobody teaches the objective truth and instead people just get the edited version for the purpose of nationalism. I hated history in school but learning about it now with open eyes is like so different. It's the difference between memorizing history and understanding it.

Very random topic I know.
 
They say the winners write history and those in charge will have you learn what they want you to learn. It's just a good thing we have the internet now to get past those limitations.

I agree man and people in power try to do whatever they want.
Then they will try to justify their facts with something else
 

depends on the rules of those who are in charge, because if they didn't want such stuff to be known they would have all related material destroyed.

And in modern days where they can't destroy the internet they change the name of it to something insignificant and censor it.

No one can truly cover up anything man. Someone would always slip up and no matter how much it gets censored everyone would find out the truth, at the end.
 
this world is different and nothing is always fair.
there are many things that are even more horrible and we would never know about them
