Do you watch an anime with bad reputation?

I never really watched anime based on reputation, maybe it gets me to watch it sooner but I wouldn't turn it away because a lot of people hate it.

SAO didn't have the best reputation but I ended up watching it anyway it turned out to be rather meh after Aincrad arc was over but I enjoyed the GGO spinoff. I also watched a few episodes of Eromanga Sensei and yea... nah. Mayoiga as well.
High School DxD was probably the most trashiest show I've watched and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot, it has a TON of fan-service but the characters are likeable and the story is pretty engaging.
These days I've stopped watching these shows because I'm more into movies so I only try to watch those I genuinely enjoy.

Yup , why not? Bad reputation means lot of people hate it, when lot of people hate it then it means it's not mainstream. It could be a gem for me

really?
they must have hated it for a reason and most people would think twice before picking up such anime.

70% likely, yes, because my taste is pretty niched and even controversial. I prefer dark and disturbing anime, and many anime that delve into controversial or disturbing topics with unlikable antisocial characters who hate humanity tend to attract negative reviews... for understandable reasons. Stuff like "Happy Sugar Life" tend to get passed off as tasteless yandere trash instead of having its subversive anti-romance writing examined.

While I have the common sense to not waste my time on the truly vapid and generic anime that offers nothing new to the storytelling world, I do make an effort to explore the less popular ones that isn't just about the power of friendship or some sappy romance all over again, anime that get overlooked or disliked because they talk about topics that people find to be in bad taste. Misanthropy is a bonus point.

All that said, Mirai Nikki sucks.
