Do you want the antagonist to die at the end of an anime?

but i have this debate with my friends today and she said those antagonists should have just received the prison sentence

Depends on the characters, I like to see them die as well, but sometimes they should live as well.

It depends on what he/She/it had done.
If it doesn't involve lose of lives and such, then there is no need for an antagonist to pay with their life

I always find interesting the Redemption arch and when they are pulled out effectively, because you can end up rooting for someone that technically ended innocent lives or did something terrible. I don't have anyone particular in mind when I say this but when those bad guys makes you feel that bitter sweet, specially when karma catches up with them at the worst possible time.
