Not many likes the old animation and even I don't really cater to old animation if I can help it. It's another story if it's a remake.

Yes it happens all the time. Just take a look at Yu YU Hakusho and Dirty Pair Flash.

Some shows “disappeared” from popularity that were popular from the pre-legal streaming days, and then popped back up in popularity years later thanks to streaming.

Also people posting memes or making YouTube videos can cause people to look it up on streaming sites. Magical Revolutionary Girl Utena of all shows randomly started popping up a couple years ago.

Anything can go viral under the right conditions, including old anime. It could start with a quote, a meme, a random picture, poking fun at some real-world event, and boom! People get a renewed interest in whatever the heck said quote/meme/pic was, and want to know the full story.
