I usually don't think they are scary man.
Movies are another matter altogether but horror anime aren't usually scary but they are creepy

they are not very scary
i personally think they are good enough. i don't want to have nightmares after watching a horror anime

I agree, especially Another
But really.. even on movie, it's rarely scary, all horror movie actually do is make us shocked with sudden appearance and loud hectic sound

I never found anime as a medium able to showcase horror at all. I'd stick to movies and games.

this
i never saw any scary music in anime, now that you mention it. it's an important part of horror induce

Nope. I think body horror works, building tension works, thrillers, psychological stuff and mystery all work, but genuine scares I've never seen working in anime.
Most live-action horror movies are "scary" because of the fear of unknown and that I've never found to be effective when it comes to anime.
Another and Higurashi are perhaps the closes to something horror, but Another is more of a guilty pleasure and a slasher-mystery while Higurashi is more about tension-building, psychological drama and gratuitous gore.

you forgot psycho pass and tokyo ghoul
that are slasher flicks too and i think they are scary if you see them for the first time

Psycho Pass I never found it to be scary it has a bit of gore and a thriller/mystery/psychological element to it but it's primarily a Sci-Fi. As for Toyko Ghoul I agree but I just didn't like the anime all that much so I didn't bother mentioning it.

you didn't like it?
but it's good enough. i haven't seen many anime with a deep sense of meaning from both sides like tokyo ghoul and shiki

Been too long so can't explain it but I remember not enjoying it as much as other people at the time. I did like the manga though, a lot. It's one of the 4 or 5 manga I've ever read.

i don't get why many people don't read manga at all.
i understand anime is good but if you can't get enough of the story, usually people pick up manga

I'm just too bored by it I guess. And everything looks all over the place and it takes a lot of time to even interpret what's happening, especially during action scenes. Not to mention I'd rather watch something in my free time than look at black and white panels on my computer screen. I can see reading manga maybe when I'm travelling, but not at home. Plus I prefer reading from actual books than from a computer screen.
