Do you think a support protagonist would be strong at the end?

all the main protagonists surpass everyone at the end.
do you know any anime where a support protagonist remains stronger, even in the end?

The one who come on my mind is Max from Macross SDF, he's more skillful pilot than main protagonist Hikaru. But i haven't watch the ending of the series so i don't know of Hikaru become better pilot than Max or not

he must have gotten better.
i don't think any mangaka would let a support protagonist to be at the top, in the end

Not really.. give me some time, i think i know a series where the support protagonist stronger than the main

but i don't think there would be any anime like that unless it's not finished and manga had more story

Ah there is one on manga.. in Boys on the Run, Tanishi never get better at boxing than anyone else, he literally always lost

I don't mind with tragic ending, sometimes tragic ending feels more classy than happy ending. But Boys on the Run have kinda happy ending

i don't think a weak protagonist can have a happy ending.
i need to look into it

naruto is still more powerful than sasuke.
and no one would make a support protagonist more powerful even in the end
