Do you think 3D CGI anime get a lot of hate just because it's CGI or are they genuinely suck in general as well?

It's a mix of both. If it's bad, it's noticably bad. It's also the new scapegoat to blame things on.

The vast majority of anime is done on computers anyway, so it's not really a stretch to throw CGI into it.

They definitely don't suck in general and it's just elitists talking shit. Tbh it's just bad CGI that gets this reputation and japan makes a lot of it.
