Do you read the comics and watch the shows?

I'm curious about this. I want to get into Anime but I wasn't sure if I should read the comics first and then watch the shows or if it didn't matter.
 
I think it depends on the person, but I just watch the shows. The music always sets the mood for me
 
The comics that you are referring to are manga. It's the basic terminology.
Many people don't like them referred to as one and the same.

comics aren't for middle aged people. some people still like that. but once you hit 30 mark, you wouldn't feel like reading stories about superheroes. trust me on this.
