Disney announced on Thursday that it is developing Star Wars: Visions, an original series of short anime films set in the Star Wars universe, with the "world's best Japanese anime creators" attached to the project. Other than the 2021 launch, Disney did not reveal further details on the project.

Disney announced the project as one of 10 new Star Wars projects on Thursday.

That would be pretty sweet specially if it falls in the timeline. I am excited to see all the new Star Wars that are coming out, specially since hayden christensen is coming back

Cool. I'm not hugely into Star Wars, but I guess it's nice to see larger companies get into the genre as well. That being said, I wonder whether, if this happens more in the future, it might not make anime lose its own distinct cultural identity. =/

It could be make or break... Maybe people will like the animation and get into anime. Or it will become more mainstream and other companies do it and ruin it haha

Or both... I can imagine well enough that Japan will just continue making its own anime and foreign companies will adapt the style as well, thinking its popularity lies only in the visuals.

don't worry lol
star wars is a huge hit and they are trying to make it even more popular and i am sure we wouldn't lose our anime identity for this

I don't really mean the 'anime culture' identity, I meant more the Japanese cultural identity that's quite an integral part of anime for the most part.

oh i see now
but this is disney and star wars we are talking about and you don't see much of the anime culture, no matter how much they try to incorporate both
