Can Western animation ever reach the heights of Japanese animation?

Tbh most anime plots aren’t exactly as “deep” as people like to make them out to be.

TV animated shows yes I prefer anime. Plus I prefer good animation+characters (Nichijou, K-On) over plot driven stories.

I don't think it's a masterpiece but it's a good example of what I'm talking about too.

Tbh a lot of slice of life shows are seinen with no plot, but that’s beside the point. You can have a good plot, but not have it be deep. People are over exaggerating the depth of the plot.
