What is the difference between vegan and vegetarian? I always thought they were the same

I have no idea if vegans avoid milk.
Most vegans in India are vegans because India used to be all about agriculture. So they eat a lot of veg curries since long ago.
All vegetarians eat Dairy products where im from.

Vegans dont consume dairy products or any animal products.
Vegeterains dont mind that.

are you from india?
i never knew that and vegans are different to vegetarians. they don't use milk products or anything that comes from animals.

No no, i a vegetarian at home only because my mom is vegetarian, she only cooks veg and doesnt like if someone brings meat at home.
dairy products is fine, everyone in my family consumes dairy products.
