You've probably seen some shows you're not proud of liking or some shows that are so out of the box that you wonder if anyone except the inner circle of anime watchers would ever watch it. I have few grouped on the reasons.
First..... The Monegatari series, Mawaru penguindrum and Kara no kyoukai. Because they all dabble in some heavy topics like psychology, philosophy and symbolism and they also come the whole package to confuse you with trippy animation, non chronological story telling and leaving a lot for the watchers to speculate on. I literally cannot tell you what Mawaru penguindrum was all about except it had penguins and drama and a lot of supernatural elements. Boogiepop might have been here if was any good. Monegatari is the easiest to understand among them but those pervy scenes in bake make me really hesitant to ever tell someone to watch it.
Next there's the pervy shows you never want anyone in real life finding out you watched. They are Kissxsis, Prison school, Cross ange: Tenshi to ryuu no rondo and Keijo.Cross ange is possibly the trashiest show to ever exist but under that trash and sandwitched beteeen the borderline yuri hentai scenes is a story like I actual grew to like. And keijo despite it seeming like a joke at first, is a super legit sports anime with great animation.
One last reason is how dark they are.....Ajin, Made in abyss, and movies lik grave of the fireflies and in this corner of the world are entirely or have scenes which can really fuck up a person if they aren't really hard hearted.
