Anime that got shadowed by the mainstream anime?

I don't know how many of you consider attack on titan as a mainstream anime but it made godeater very unpopular.
Is there any other anime that shadowed by one piece, Naruto, bleach?

Yeah just like Demon said this happens every season. Nobody knew or cared about Made in Abyss in Summer 2017 and they were all excited about Kakegurui, but since it was licensed by Netflix nobody was able to watch it immediately, so everyone instead became hyped about Classroom of the Elite and Fate/Apocrypha, along with My Hero Academia Season 2 of course.
But then word of mouth started spreading slowly and slowly and Made in Abyss became an extremely popular anime of that season due to its sheer high quality.

Well, i don't know many anime but I do know about godeater and to be honest, it's quite good.
I enjoyed it way more than attack on Titan.

I think most anime do, a lot of people probably only watch a hand full of the most popular stuff.

The one who advertises a lot, gets the popularity.
I agree with your observation of people watching popular stuff but sometimes it depends on the rating as well. Many people would never pick an anime having a rating below 6.5

Usually ratings aren't low but it doesn't happen often for a very good anime. Even godeater you mentioned doesn't have such a low rating .
It's better to go with anime having good ratings.

all the shonen ai anime have great expectations because of sekai ichi hatsukoi and junjou romatica.
they only get a 7 rating.

Bokurano came out in 2006 same year as death note/ code geass and noone seems to have heard of it because of that even though it's amazing.

It is very difficult for the all the anime to get popularity.
If I remember correctly K-ON and love live overshadows other musical anime, a lot.
