Anime not suited for children?

What are your thoughts on what anime is not suited for children? Why should children not watch that certain kind of anime?
 
Anything that has a lot of violence or sexual content is not suitable for children. And, anime has a lot of that. I guess if you have young children, parents need to maintain some sort of monitoring.
 
Anime is quite moderate with the disturbing stuff compared to movies. It's not as real when its drawn as compared to when acted by real actors.
 
Certainly, children should not be exposed to pornography (but that's a no-brainer).   Also, depending on the age, they shouldn't be exposed to violence.
 
Anime is like USA's cartoons, we have our young kids cartoons like Word Girl and then we have our adult cartoons like The Simpsons. Japan has pretty much the same setup, though I don't know how well they manage their rating system.
 
There are many anime that are not suited for children. Seinen, is something I would never recommend for kids.
Action, shonen are the only genres that I would recommend for children
 
Anime has sort of a dirty rep in the west, but maybe not India or Japan.  Basically, as sort of noted, it's associated with adult entertainment and maybe even illegal porn. Nonetheless, I think only massively closed minded people would totally make that assumption.

You are mistaking hentai with anime. Hentai is porn but anime isn't. Google it for more information

there are adult anime that aren't hentai and you can't expect everyone to like them and accept them. wicked city isn't a hentai but it's an adult anime.

you can't say that anime and hentai are the same. anime got story and hentai doesn't.
it's like comparing a normal movie with an av
