Otonashi awakens only to learn he is dead. A rifle-toting girl named Yuri explains that they are in the afterlife, and Otonashi realizes the only thing he can remember about himself is his name. Yuri tells him that she leads the Shinda Sekai Sensen (Afterlife Battlefront) and wages war against a girl named Tenshi. Unable to believe Yuri's claims that Tenshi is evil, Otonashi attempts to speak with her, but the encounter doesn't go as he intended.

Otonashi decides to join the SSS and battle Tenshi, but he finds himself oddly drawn to her. While trying to regain his memories and understand Tenshi, he gradually unravels the mysteries of the afterlife.

When i was looking for tragic anime...
This was the name that appeared...
After that came Clannad...Which I guess is currently more popular than this.
But I like Angel best very much :D
Its songs are also Sugoii...As well as action and quite a good story :D

I really liked this anime, it started out strong and had a lot going for it, for me though I felt it became not as good near the end. A really touching scene though and I still need to watch the OVA.

Seen it loved it.

As always, like other anime's, started out with a lot of potential, but, turned into another average high school shonen anime, like Blue Exorcist................

So what would have been a better ending in your opinion?

this went better than blue exorcist, but still flopped in the end.

Yep.........Blue exorcist went filler-ish around the 15th episode, and went down-hill since then..............

Well, I am not talking about the ending alone......It lost its plot mid-way..........It should have added more characters along the way, expand the story, and should have finished it in a grand way, like, say, Code Geass, FMAB, AoT, etc.........

The series could have been improved, but that's not how. Angel Beats already has a huge cast so introducing more characters along the way would be over-kill. In my opinion, we should have been shown about the past life of existing characters. Like, I would have loved to see TK's or the judo guy's past.

However, since it was only given around thirteen episodes, Angel Beats couldn't implement that. It still does great with whatever space it gets. I haven't seen a single Anime that can do as well as Angel Beats in only thirteen episodes.

Well, I'd say that they wasted a lot of screen-time......

i saw this a long time ago peeps.
it ain't great but it is good with a weird concept. how peeps watched this and what do you like about this anime. i like the music the most. it's about people who are already dead.

@Sindar @Davis what do you peeps think about this anime?

It's great. It started to fall apart at the end, but they managed to wrap it up very nicely. Characters are great, songs are very good too, and I like the animation. The opening is great too. That is my opinion =)

Yeah, that's about what I feel too =) I'm pretty sure that is what they were trying to make.

but only music and the sad moments made it popular bro.
otherwise, no one will ever watch that kind of anime.

I don't know, probably. I have watched it a while ago, I wonder if maybe there is some merit to this anime that I have missed O.o
