Any Anime that got saved by the ending?

Hrmmmm, can't think of anything off the top of my head. Most tend to flounder near the end. But I will tell one that was not saved, Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Not missing anything with the tv show, watch the movies instead.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is still on my wanting-to-watch-this-someday-when-I-have-the-time list. I think I managed to watch about three or four episodes, before some life drama happened, and I forgot about it. I do love the OP song, Cruel Angels Thesis though.
But to answer @DarkAngel , I'm not really sure. What is it about an ending that makes it topnotch? For me, any anime that rips out those tears, like having a deeply emotional impact, or a super happy ending, I mean like over the top happy, an episode final, like there's no way to make a sequel from it, it neatly ties all loose ends up. That would be considered topnotch to me.
