Which arc's character design for the Straw Hat Pirates do you like best? East Blue, Grand Line, or The New World? I like the new world look for most of Luffy's crew except for Franky I liked his Grand Line look better and I liked Chopper's top hat better then his new hat.

East blue and the initial episodes are really good.
That's what made me pick the anime despite it being very long and ongoing

East Blue is good story wise but the art style was a little sketchy. I grew up on this manga and anime so I've watched it grow over the years. By the point story wise where they are now nearly every character from the East Blue arc has been redesigned.

Yes the artwork in the beginning is quite rough. Definitely intended to be in a magazine. The publisher never expected it to become so popular especially outside Japan but it basically went viral before going viral was a thing.

I'm sure he would be successful he is a good story teller. But I'm not sure such a large scale series would be given a chance by publishing companies in todays manga market. Most are tied up around 12 to 20 volumes to keep from losing money when readers start losing interest. These days if a manga, light novel or anime is still gaining popularity after the first release tie-up instead of extending it they will break it up into squeal or spinoff series.

that's true
and if they continue to drag the series, most of the fans would just stop following it

When it comes to the one that I like most, I will say East Blue. They put a lot of efforts in having a good story that only a few will say something negative about.
