Why is anime still treated as childish even with it becoming so popular and admired?

I am sure its because of the ignorance and prejudice most of the time.
Do you guys agree with that? Or do you believe there could be some other reason for it?

people can be biased and prejudiced lol
and that's how all the people are out there and we can't do anything about it if they blame anime.
