Why do people think sports anime can be boring?

does only fights can make people think it can be interesting?
even sports anime have fights in competitions.
 
I remember watching prince of Tennis on Toonami, it was alright I just found the plot not very good to keep me interested or excited for the next ep.
 
Not really.. sports can be fun too, like when both side catching up on scoring or something like that. Well.. what really makes thing interesting is not only action, but also the story, like is there any story besides the matches? characters and connection between them, yea something like that
 
It’s probably a jocks vs nerd thing where they have to have a hatred of sports. They probably didn’t watch any sports anime either before making that comment
 
I love sports anime, don’t think it’s boring at all myself. For example, my personal most favourite one is “Prince of Tennis”.
