Why do beautiful animation with less plot works better in anime than in the west?

Like what examples are we talking about here?

Disney/Pixar are known for quality animation, as was Don Bluth and Richard Williams back in the day.

It’s also a case of a hobby you don’t care for vs one you do care for, so you don’t notice the one you don’t care for. Like in film and music, they have releases that more focus on cinematography or the technicality of the music and that really only appeals to people who care about that stuff.

but i was just saying how things are getting more and more attention in anime.
 
People like cool animation
Usually we don't get good animation and that makes a lot of difference.
