I am not too sure about that.

In a seriousness, most overall hobbies, especially in the entertainment industry, all have different factions that hate each other.
A lot of it is due to the types of fans associated with a subgroup within a hobby, and other times it’s even dumber stuff. Most fandoms have shifting goalposts where nobody is a bigger fan than the person saying they’re the biggest fan.

As anime is getting popular, everything is about just that and we fail to notice that it's just normal in any industry
