Why do anime fans dislike mecha?

Most of the same fans I know dislike the mecha genre a lot.

I am not sure why and even I don't prefer that genre much. Is it the same for you guys?

Gundam is very popular man.
Mecha got decent popularity as well. Like Macross, Gundam and many more. @White_tiger can give you even more names.

Mech anime is extremely popular, hell they are building a life-size gundam in Japan right now! Where are you hearing it's not?

I’m not a fan, but I will admit I was into Gundam when I was younger. After Seed I just fell off the map, and never bothered to get back into the series.

Gundam is the most nostalgic anime for most of the people, who likes mecha as a kid.

I don't know, they must have reason that i can't explain since i like mecha. Mecha (super robot) is among the first genre i watch so they have special place in my heart
