Why are so many anime receiving second seasons?

how come man anime are getting sequels these days ? and it used to be a lot harder than this to get a sequel lol

Well probably there is a lot of anime which got some budget allocated to them.
That could be the only possible explanation at this point.

but at least getting a sequel for a very old anime doesn't make much of a sense to me.
