I think the studio gets more credit, I know I pay attention to them more than who is making the series.

I think it depends. If the anime adaption takes something that wasn't too well known and makes it a hit then the studio will likely be the one that's appreciated more. On the other hand, if an anime is adaption something that's already super popular, the original artist will be the one that's appreciated.
