Which game you like better? From Squaresoft or Enix?

I don't think I've actually played any Enix titles, so by default my answer is Square.

As much as I like the games from Enix, I think for that time period, Square had more consistent titles.

Squaresoft did no wrong, each game was better than the last. Then they went to Square Enix....

IMO they tried a little too hard with the SaGa games, particularly with the two SaGa Frontier games.

I agree, Playstation got 3 Final Fantasy, meanwhile Enix only have 1 Dragon Quest. And also there are Front Mission, SaGa, Xenogears, and other stuff from Squaresoft

I don’t think either Saga Frontier were that great. They were ambitious, but there’s a lot of “what do I do?”. Though Square’s answer to that was Legend of Mana, which is also ridiculous without a guide.

Enix had more big name RPG’s on the SNES, as their only notable ones on the PlayStation were Star Ocean 2 and Valkyrie Profile.

The Square Enix merger didn’t change much for Enix, as they were only a publisher, and never made any of their games. Chunsoft made most of their flagship Dragon Quest series, and Tri Ace worked on Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile.

Lol yes, i remember finishing Legend of Mana with 100% relying on guide

I do like Tri Ace's work i never missed Valkyrie Profile in PS1 and 2

I’ve never played Valkyrie Profile 2, always wanted to try it out. I do own the original on both the PS1 and PSP, but never finished it. One of these days I’ll actually sit down and force myself to play it and see why it’s beloved.

To be honest.. i play Valkyrie Profile 2 before VP1 lol that's kinda lame, but both games are good. Is the series continue until now?

Iirc they made a third game called Covenant of the Plume, but after that it’s been dormant outside of a mobile port of the first game.

That's unfortunate. Oh well.. maybe they run out of ideas to develop more stories

It could be because the series never sold well, that and Tri-Ace doesn’t pump out games that often. Star Ocean is their biggest franchise, and even that has only 5 games despite being around for about 25 years.

Even Dragon Quest or Star Ocean?

Not played any of the originals, only DQ11 which is post-merge and I have Star Ocean the Last Hope on my Steam wishlist but that's also post-merge :v
