When do you start to watch anime?

Hi!

I was curious about this, a couple of days ago I was thinking, it's been probably 12 or 13 years since I started to watch anime knowing what it was, besides the childhood ones like Dragon Ball, Pokémon, Sailor Moon, etc.

It's not that clear to me when did I started, but my earliest memories is watching Katekyo Hitman Reborn! when it was airing, and that was on 2006 (I started when it was like 25 episodes in). 

So I ask you guys, when did you started watching anime knowing what it was? or at least an approximate

It was long ago in the 80's, i start with super robot like Voltes V, Getter Robo, Mazinger Z, God Sigma, Goshogun, Go Lion and other that i already forget

They come along with Tokusatsu like Zabogar, Ultraman, Gavan, Sharivan, Lion Maru, Google V. After that come the second wave, American cartoon like Ninja Turtle, He-Man, GI.Joe, Silver Hawk

2012. Started with Naruto, Death Note, Code Geass, Steins;Gate, One Piece, Psycho-Pass, Bleach etc.
