What's wrong with older main protagonist?

Do you realized that most of mainstream anime/manga main protagonist is kid or teen or young man? yeah.. they usually not older than 30

I wonder why is this happened? What's wrong with older main protagonist? Even main protagonist that supposed to be old given childish trait (Goku) to make them uh.. like a kid/teen. Is younger main protagonist really that appealing? Is older main protagonist really that boring?

To be honest i found it bit difficult to answer this to myself, but somehow i feel that this has something to do with the audiences demographic which is directly affected taste and image of 'ideal hero' but i could be wrong. I need to give this topic more thought

you will change that opinion if you watch inuyashiki.
but i understand why you think old people aren't featured in many anime

I mean.. i'm okay with main protagonist at their 30's or 40's but that's rare

Dragon Ball changed it. In the 80's you had stuff like JoJo and Hokuto no Ken with Kenshiro and Jonathan being these big muscular men and with DB being so popular everything changed basically and you had shonen manga focusing so much on teenagers. I mean look at its contemporaries, YYH and Slam Dunk. Or the ones that followed it: HxH, Naruto, One Piece and Bleach.
Besides teens are the market for these things so it makes sense.

Rurouni Kenshin and Gintama are the only ones I can think of when it comes to shounen. But lots of other anime have adult protagonists, anime that are legitimately popular.

Oh yea right.. Kenshin, i don't know Gintama. Well if we talk about protagonists then there's a lot of them, but as main protagonist it's rare

It's about what kind of anime you are tackling. Yes the majority have teens as protagonists but even among the ones I've watched there are lots with adults.

Yes because that's the demographic they are appealing.

Although lots of seinen have teen protagonists as well, but they are usually 16 or 17 and not 12 or 13.

despite being shounen one piece main protagonist got 16 age main protagonist.
luffy is not 12 or 13. i think naruto got bigger at the end.

And Kenshin and Gintoki are adults like I said above. I was giving typical examples, not generalizing for every shonen anime.

It really is, only one or two title of mainstream anime had adult main protagonist, the rest is just teen

Well, adult life can be mechanical.
I don't think it's very interesting and it's always about people working hard for their careers

I mean.. why the author not making Naruto or Luffy adult right from the start? and this is anime, it doesn't have to copy the pattern of actual daily life, they can make lazy or adventurous adult too if they really want

Well, adults have more responsibilities.
Kids are usually energetic and often hyped up for an adventure.
