What's it like being a Girl in the Anime Community before and now?

Back then there weren't many girls and I came across even boys posing as girls, just for the actual ones to introduce themselves.
Now, I see many people in the anime community. I used to get teased for not liking the intense battle in anime but some of them were boring. What is it like being a girl for you in the anime community then and now?

Yes a lot.
There are lots of women who watch anime now and it's no longer considered 'weird'
