I have been thinking about this...but I don't have an answer to this.
It depends on how thee story impresses me...I suppose.
What about you guys? Is it the same for you?

If I can relate with the character, if the character is badass, if the character has a unique nature, if the character grows on me over a period of time... I suppose I'll like that character.

She must be talking about only one character. I don't know why she never gets tired of speaking about itachi.
I like badass characters

It's what makes the character who they are and it's what always catches my attention. I can't really relate to them without knowing their backstory

Well, that's because the initial plot is good. Otherwise, you would never see a character like that.
Tell me something kiddo, why do you like a character? You can't just like overpowered characters ya know :/

Uh....me?
I think he is funny but that's about it. I don't think it has any plot.
I agree with bleach. It should have ended there.hmmm.....my argument is..... that attitude/nature comes from the plot :P
So, almost everyone likes plot first :D

Ugh....even gintama got some sort of plot.
You wouldn't like an anime which got nothing but fights.
I mean....argument=point :P
It's bad :(

There are hundreds of anime with "plot" and terrible execution. It's the execution that matters, and OPM did it to perfection.
And did you even watch the anime? It deals with so many themes, whilst having the central through-line gag/parody element.

Uh.....
here is my flow chart.
Plot - > characters - > develop personality(character development)
(Plot gives strength to characters)
I am able to move it, it just pains...I am not so sure where the source is. Atashi chibi ja nayiyo!
Yeah....

Well, it's the power of friendship but...I suppose it's used all the time and lost it's effect a long time ago.
Watch seirei no moribito or kyou Kara ore wa to get a different feeling :P
