What makes a main protagonist?

do you think if the story revolves around someone, then he is the main protagonist?
i don't think that makes someone a very good main protagonist. do you agree?
 
Well you could say that, like or dislike we're forced to follow the series from their perspective
Very good main protagonist is rare to me

i understand it a lot.
i can even relate to it. i have been having conflicting emotions for death note. i don't like light but he is the main protagonist in it

A well-realised character arc through the course of the series, self-actualization, a sense of agency and maybe a goal. Edward probably fits all of these. Okabe as well.

i should have thought of that before as well and i think he is more of a comedy character

At the start yes but that does change as the series goes on, he still maintains his levity but it gradually reduces.

i don't think i understand that.
he is like any other shounen main protagonist to me. a comic relief and a strong protagonist

If you watch all 5 OP's itself you can understand all the high's and low's he goes through, with his brother, Hohenheim, Winry, Mustang, the Father.
 
I don't have a set requirements for it.
Whoever is the one calling the shots, they are the main protagonist, of an anime
