What is the earliest Japanese era/period which was depicted in any anime?

I don’t know off the top of my head, but I can guarantee they probably have something based on Himiko of the Yamatai, or on the Kojiki. The latter is probably gonna be more “educational”.

Whatever era they show in Inyuasha.

That’s the Warring States period, and they’ve had stuff earlier than that.

Did a little research and it looks like the earliest period depicted in anime is the Heian period -794 to 1185 Otogi Zoshi is probly the most well known anime set in this period. Inuyasha would have fallen into the Sengoku period -1467 to 1600.
